All dogs listed are in foster homes. In order to set up a meeting or learn more about a pup who caught your eye, please apply (there is no fee to apply, and no obligation to adopt). We will review your application and be in touch as soon as possible for next steps. We do not have a shelter location, all meetings are by appointment. Adoption fees are based on age, length of time with the rescue, medical costs, behavioral training, and whether or not someone has chosen to sponsor a portion of the adoption fee. We do not keep applications on file, you must apply for the specific dog you are interested in.

A few notes on the process:

Preference will go to local adopters, due to vet work that must be done at an OMD partner clinic (Boone, Nevada, Des Moines). While OMD does adopt to out of state adopters, this litter will be required to be adopted by someone within the state of Iowa who will commit to driving to appointments as needed.
Puppies will not be ready to go home for a few weeks, near the end of February, the date will be communicated to the adopter after an application is approved.
These puppies will go home on a delay spay or neuter contract. This means that the $500 adoption fee covers vaccines up to the date of spay, the alteration of the pet (spay/neuter) and microchip. An appointment will be made for each puppy at approx. 6 months of age. The adopter must take the puppy to the appointment, following instructions from the rescue.
Applications will be accepted starting 2/14/26, and each puppy will review applications individually. If interested in more than one puppy, please list each name. Each foster home will review their applications individually. So, listing the specific puppy will be beneficial to be considered. When applications are full for that puppy it will be noted on the listing below.
This is not first come first serve, puppies will pick the application that best fits their needs & personalities. References for veterinarians and personal will be checked.
Everyone at OMD is a volunteer. We will do our best to respond to all applications, but it will take us several days to do so. Please be patient.
